Starting WoW
Every week, Starting WoW brings you the premier short-form informational and humor podcast all about World of Warcraft.
Season 1 was based around kicking new players of WoW into shape, and Season 2 was all about the casual players.

Beginnings

The idea for Starting WoW first came about when Cian was on a french exchange. World of Warcraft was always something which he wanted to try, but never really got an excuse to. In France, it seemed that everybody played, so he used this excuse to start up the podcast.

How Cian got into World of Warcraft

At the french school Cian was doing his exchange in, everybody was playing WoW. Cian first tried to fight this, and felt like an utter loner reading while everybody else was busy ganking each other. Soon, he gave in, and now can be found playing WoW and recording shows based on his experiances.

Segments

One thing Starting WoW has become known for are it’s segments on everything from choosing a good class for your play style to deciding what type of food to feed your pet.

Tongue in Cheek

Starting WoW never takes itself seriously. Come on, It’s a show about playing a computer game. Episodes which take themselves seriously should be considered mistakes.

Lingo

There have been many reoccurring sections in SWoW over the seasons. These include Lingo, Stopping WoW and the popular Survival section.

Holiday Shows

After every season, SWoW takes an official break. Weekly Holiday Shows replace the normal schedule, filled with banter, humor and fun.

The first of our videos, this is a segment that was going to be only for those of you who were going to sign up to SWoW Extra or whatever I decided to call it. The one where you would pay a tenner, get all the episodes early, get to chat with me online and get really. Really. REALLY long screencasts about nothing. Like this one.

This is me playing Eve Online for the first time, and comparing it to World of Warcraft. Hope you enjoy!

Here we have an article I found banging around the place on the Wyrmrest Accord. Enjoy! This is the last of the audio that I will be bringing you for a while, next week we are on to the screencasts. Which are horrendously boring, if you don’t mind me saying.

Hey there! I am so sorry about not getting out an episode to you lot for such a long time! So I made a video. I am going to outline the basic points that went into this video, so if you don’t want to be spoiled, just click play straight away!

  1. SWoW is on long-term vacation due to the Leaving Cert. Which is not fun. It’s basically the hell of all school years.
  2. Over the next four or five weeks I will be rolling out some content that I found burried in the file system that was meant to go into the third season of SWoW. This includes articles and screencasts.
  3. To say sorry, I am including you all in a competition that was only meant to run on View From The Quad to win one of five copies of J.C Hutchins’s book, 7th Son. To enter, all you have to do is email Podcast@StartingWoW.com with the words “7th Son” as the subject.

In the video, I also mention that you can grab the first 10 chapters of the book for FREE! You can do so by clicking http://bit.ly/2snwOA . Order the book on Amazon for an astoundingly low price at http://bit.ly/3dA8Ju and enjoy the rest of the story long before those who win this competition get their copies of the book!

Stay subscribed to the show! If you miss the sound of my sweet voice, you can join me every week on View From The Quad, my other podcast, at www.ViewFromTheQuad.com where we talk about Science, Technology, Sci-fi and life. You might like it. Also, you will get the chance to enter the competition again!
